BEER IN HEAVEN

In my novel Hospital Angel, a medical thriller, I provide directions for a bar. “Once you are in heaven, you need to take the gold paved Heavenly Parkway south until you reach Paradise Boulevard, then head east on Paradise to Rapture Road, turn right on Rapture Road and go all the way to the end. At the end of the street, you will see a building. The building does not look too inviting from the outside, but they have the best beer in heaven. You simply must try the Heavenly Brew.” This is a beer to die for since it is only available in the afterlife. Also, this is where the angels go after work. If anyone deserves a cold one at the end of a hard day, it is the angels.

This is a complete fabrication. I made it up. I am a nerd with a weird sense of humor. I do not want the beer drinkers to spend all of their eternity looking for this bar. Also, I do not want any beer drinkers asking the angels for directions. In fact, I do now want anyone to quote me in the afterlife. I already have enough issues. I hope none of you are behind me at the Pearly Gates since it will take a really long time for me to explain my life and the line will get backed up. However, I may get lucky. Saint Peter may get so disgusted with my file that he decides to wave me through. I do hope I get to the afterlife ahead of my former spouse since I would like to give my side of the story first. Please remember Hospital Angel is fiction, it is not a documentary.

Also in Hospital Angel, I describe “Upside Dawn Golden Ale” which was a non-alcoholic beer made by the Athletic Brewing Company. In blind taste tests, everyone thought it had a superior taste, and the vast majority of people could not distinguish this non-alcoholic beer from regular beer. Besides being non-alcoholic, it only has fifty calories. This beer actually exists and is real!
