MY PET WEREWOLF is a coming-of-age story with action, heartbreak, humor, and young romance. It contains hunters, werewolves, vampires, and other paranormal participants. Martial arts, guns, and swords are used to combat fangs and sharp claws.
Barbara’s parents own a martial arts dojo, and Barb teaches several classes when it does not interfere with her basketball practice. She hopes to get a basketball scholarship to avoid or minimize student loans. She loves animals and dreams of becoming a veterinarian.
Barb believes her older brother is a vampire and overhears him as he plans to turn her. She decides her only option is to run. She leaves Greenville, South Carolina, and takes a bus to Miami. However, her blood is that of a hunter, which places her in danger from other paranormal rogues. She is on the run from the police. She would rather die than become a vampire and is suicidal. The hunter’s organization has offered a considerable reward to the paranormal communities for her safe return. The werewolf packs are competing for the reward and the prestige of helping to recover a young hunter. The local vampire Primus would like to capture her for the power it would bring to his conclave. She befriends a dog not knowing it was a wolf tracking her scent. The wolf likes the scent and her. Then they are attacked.
This is my fourth published novel in the past 8 months. While the main protagonist is a high school female, the book has plenty of action for her parents and older brothers. Thus, it can be read by a wide audience who like the paranormal genre.
